Philippines – Palawan – Coron

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast, you also miss the sense of where you are going and why”

Sitting in a Kong caffe and reading these lines, that’s exactly how I feel about Coron. That’s the place to stop and just breath.

I have never seen such a beautiful place. Definitely my favorite part of Philippines so far.

Things to do in Coron:

  • Hot spring – 3cycle will take you to the spa and back and the driver will wait for you for an hour/ for 300 pesos. I don’t like to be stress during my relaxation so I paid 150 pesos and said I will managed to get back on my own. Met there a great American couple and we split the costs. I paid 50 pesos. #besmart
  • Tours – usually from 8.20 – 5 pm, a lunch is included in a price. πŸ“ around 750-1600 pesos. Read more about these tour by clicking here.
  • Rent a scooter – Β pay maximum 500 pesos, I negotiated for 400 pesos for a day
  • Diving – I would suggest Sea Dive Resort

How to get to Coron:

πŸ›³ From El Nido to Coron by boat

  • A fast boat – Montenegro – 1750 pesos/ 3 hours ride
  • A slow boat – 1000 pesos/ 6-8 hours depends on the weather

When the sea is rough, the boats might not be going for days! Happened to me, I was stuck in El Nido waited for Montenegro boat for 4 days. #nature #rules

πŸ›³ From Manilla to Coron by a boat

  • a fast boat – 14 hours
  • a slow boat – 22 hours

πŸ“βœˆοΈ a flight from Coron to Manila or to Puerto Princesa.

Coron airport – Busuanga – 45 min to get there.

πŸ“ πŸ’° Exchange – seen 3 exchange places, not bad but better exchange rate was in El Nido. I usually went to Zurich guesthouse to exchange. 3 min walks from there is another exchange place, all close by No Name bar, so pretty easy to reach and then enjoy the happy hours in a bar as well.

ATM – I haven’t seen any πŸ˜‚βœŒοΈ Make sure you got cash!

Dollars and euro are fine, up to your preferences!

Important information:

Book all your flights from Coron ahead of time.

I waited and then there were no flights from Coron to Manila for a week. Β Not even flights from Coron to Puerto Princesa. Oh and boats to Manila? The fast one (14hours) – the tickets were sold out for all month.

And the slow one is taking 22 hours. πŸ˜±πŸ–– #beorganized

3cycle: ‼️ Never pay for a 3cycle ride in the Coron centre more then 10-20 pesos. That’s What locals pay for the ride.

Laundry – 24 hours – 50 pesos – My laundry wasn’t done well, I would suggest do it in El Nido. As I did and It was great!

The Beaches – there aren’t any nice beaches in Coron. Coron is a place where you need to go for a boat excursion to enjoy all the lagoons and the best places!

Places to go to:

No Name Bar – the only cool bar in town, so whoever you meet during the day or on a tour, you will meet him later on 🍷🍾 I was a solo traveler so I truly enjoyed this small pool vibe! After few days in Coron I knew almost every human being. Lol! Easy to find friends!

Carl’s BBQ Grill – a great place to be, check out my photo of my new French friend and I. Β She is a diving instructor, living in Palawan. She things Philippines people are like a marshmallows so sweet! And after almost a month in Philippines I must only agree!

Kong Caffe – a great β˜•οΈ And homemade brownie! Yummy!

Lavine’s vegetarian restaurant – don’t miss the roof top – a great place to watch a sunset.

This place was recommended to me by an American couple. They said, we both are vegetarians, we absolutely love this restaurant. You totally have to try the chicken red curry, that’s our favourite! πŸ˜‰βœŒοΈ Lol!

Have fun and share my story on social media and help others to explore Palawan in a very easy peasy way!

  1. These photos are unreal! The color of that water is seriously insane. Wow, was planning on skipping the Philippines on our trip to SE Asia but I don’t know if I can pass it up now.
